Christianity in Israel: "They Hated Me Without a Cause."

July 26, 2007 - According to sources at Arutz Sheva (IsraelNN.com), steps are currently being taken to rid the Israeli airwaves of Christian broadcasting, specifically, that which originates from the DayStar Television Network--a global, Christian network currently broadcasting in over 200 countries, and with an audience of over 120 million viewers. The move results from numerous complaints received by Israeli cable providers through which viewers have grown "offended" over the network's attempts to broadcast "the message of Jesus" in Jerusalem, as well as in Judea and Samaria.

According to Rabbi Tovia Singer, the leader of an organization dedicated to neutralizing the efforts of evangelical Christians inside Israel, "It is unimaginable that Daystar Television Network should come to the Jewish State of Israel and act as a predator - trying to evangelize Jews to convert to Christianity...the Jewish People stand united, regardless of Jewish affiliation or background, in their opposition to Christian efforts to convert Jews. Every Jew stands together on this issue." Read the article in its entirety

This is merely the most recent evidence of Jewish efforts to purge Israel of Christian evangelicals, and said efforts continue to intensify. This comes on the heels of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel's ban on the Jewish participation in a recent Judeo-Christian conference sponsored by the evangelical Christian organization, Bridges for Peace. In May, the Rabbinate banned Jewish participation in the "Woman to Woman" Conference in Jerusalem, whist issuing the following statement: "..concentration on "Judeo-Christian values" and the study of 'the Jewish foundations of Christianity' are forbidden." Let us counter this hatred with love, and not more hatred. Let us take a page from history, and learn from the past transgressions committed in the name of "Christianity". Their hatred is not legitimate. The House of Israel remains "blinded" to the truth, and will continue to be until the LORD removes the scales from their eyes--that is, "until the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled". True, "Christian" support for and love of the Jewish people are not "conditional" upon their recognition of Yeshua Ha'Mashiach. Let us pray for the removal of Israel's "blindness", and, subsequently, her salvation.

"For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel shall be saved, as it is written: 'The Deliver will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.'"[Romans 11:25-26]
